Shoes are like the dessert of an outfit, a sweet little something just to top it all off and bring it all together. But more recently shoes have become the main attraction; the main course, if you will. The shoe world has seen an upheaval and is showcasing shoes that are pieces of art themselves, rather than just accessories. This season there’s been the birth of the bold, bright and beautiful shoe and practicality seems to have been thrown out of the window!
KOBI LEVI
Since graduating from the Bezalel academy of art & design, Jerusalem in 2001, Levi has been creating ‘footwear art’. Thinking outside of the box his designs are clever and thought provoking and are mad enough for the one and the only Lady Gaga (who strutted in a pair of Levi’s boots in her Born This Way video). His concepts are cool and quirky and aren’t your everyday office shoes but are sure to bring a little fun to any outfit.
PRADA
The Italian fashion giants have caused quite a stir with the release of their SS12 beauties; hailing them one of the must have accessories this season. The fiery heels are Muiccia Prada’s realisation of 50s glam with a huge modern twist. The green and yellow ‘flame heels’ were featured in the SS12 campaign and are set to be the most popular of the collection.
ACNE
Acne are using colour this season to really make their shoes stand-out. The silk fabric gives a great textured look to these heels and is essential for that luxe look. The block heel and shape of the platform – set back slightly for prominence- make these some of the must haves for this season. They may not be as daring as the others (they are slightly more practical though) but the colour and shape are sure to add a ‘pop’ to any girl’s shoe collection.
It seems that more definitely is more.
